Saturday In My World.. Critters to Feed.. Chores to do.. and a Rumble of Thunder..

"When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion." ~ Ethiopian proverb * * * * * * * * * * 31 Photo's In 31 Days- #7 ~ Standing alone on the edge of a marsh path this Indian Blanket flower .. bright and colorful .. was buzzing with honey bees.. One of the tiny critters flew between the bloom and the camera.. Looking carefully you can see the blur of his rapidly fluttering wings.. "How many damn ...... peanuts did you eat!" * * * * * * * * * * Buttons~ Camera Critters

  1. Elephants must eat more than peanuts to be that big, don't you think? :-) I've always wondered, but never took time to look it up.

  2. Judy Sheldon-Walker~ sure they do.. the ones we saw at the circus were being fed hay and sweet feed that is given to horse.. peanuts would be only a treat.. In captivity .. such as a zoo.. or game preserve.. elephant food includes cabbage, lettuce, sugar cane, apples, bananas, as well as other fruits and vegetables. But hay, herbivore pellets, and acacia leaf fodder are the mainstays of a captive elephant's diet.. I looked that up.. lol.. They eat almost 700 pounds of food a day and drink around 50 gallons of water.. I always thought I'd like to own one.. ride him around town and stuff but it sounds like a lot of work just to feed one.. Have a great day!
