Seventeen Years is Not So Long...

" In the south there's a difference between 'Naked' and 'Nekkid.' 'Naked' means you don't have any clothes on. 'Nekkid' means you don't have any clothes on ... and you're up to somethin'."

Dave and I came across these at a flea Market a few weeks ago.. and I sneaked a shot of them..  the second set that I have not pictured left no doubt as to who they would fit..  I found them more than a little disturbing.. and checking the mans other items and his prices..  we decided that he didn't really want to sell anything.. he was just letting his status as a racist be known..

  4. OMG! I have always loved that quote by Lewis Grizzard! What a wonderful writer! I'll be laughing all night. When I moved to Chicago from Atlanta, I received one of his books, and inside he had written, "Judie, there ain't no grits in Chicago!!" He was right.

  5. Interesting post. I appreciated your assessment of the so-called merchant at the flea market. My hubby and I love old crusty things, but some things have too much history it seems. Happy Anniversary to you both!!!

  7. Happy Anniversary from another October 'bride'!
The shackles are a horror from another time, and if they serve the purpose of awakening young minds to the need to be vigilant against racism, then they should be on display forever.
