Monday.. A Bright New Day.. A New Start to a New Week.. Let's Make It the Best We Can!

"A blue dog, you know, is the opposite of a yellow dog. And a yellow dog was somebody who was willing to follow his party even when he knew it was wrong." ~ Mike Thompson

~ a flying insect..at rest in the cool morning air.. I have been told that this is a fungus gnat.. If that is correct then I have to say.. that is one BIG gnat! I am afraid I don't know much about bugs.. this fellow sat calm and still for me to make his photograph.. then I tried to touch it to be sure it was alive.. It flew quickly away.. If you know what it is .. feel free to comment so that we will all know..

Fall Festivals With Beauty and Fun! Dave and I Went There on a "Date"..

"I saw old Autumn in the misty morn stand shadowless like silence, listening to silence." ~ Thomas Hood * * * * * * * * * * ... Foto Finish - Autumn
.. I love the holiday decorations that will be showing up on porches all over town from now till the end of the month..
* * * * * * * * * * *
Macro Flowers - #30.. .. One of the prizes at the small town Fall Festival was this beautiful mum.. I was thrilled to spot this heart shaped center in one of the blossoms.. I would have been doubly thrilled had I actually won the huge hanging basket....
* * * * * * * * * *
This photo of a hole doesn't look like anything special does it? We found this hole inside a fence near the festival.. we could see bowls of fruits and vegetables and some dishes of water scattered around.. the we spotted this hole...
~ Dave and I were wondering what could be hiding inside this deep hole.. we discussed the possibilities of what animals might dig a hole.. we finally decided to just point and shoot a photo of the hole and hope for the best.. some people who were poking a stick at the hole said there might be a turtle in there.. we could see that something was in there but we couldn't tell exactly what it was.. and I wasn't going to aggravate what ever it was with a stick.. so I slid my camera through the fence and then my hand went in with some twisting and turning.. and I shot a few pictures of a black hole...
Camera Critters ... Camera Critters - #130....
Up on the old train depot building at the festival they had a big fish tank with a bunch of these little critters inside.. they were hatch-lings .. who were hatched right there in Hilda.. They are turtles of some kind.. I knew then that I would be doing all I could to pull a photo out of the hole.. and finally after some brightening and contrast adjusting.. ... I was able to finally
.. see the parent turtle that was watching us from inside the hole... this is a pretty big turtle.. I would have like to have seen it on top of the ground..

Oh What a Day .. But At Least It's Friday!

"Time ripens all things. No man is born wise. Bishops are made of men and not of stones." ~ Miguel de Cervantes
*************************************************
~ Somewhere between my own house and where my Grandma once lived..
Sky Watch Friday- Season 4.. Episode 12- ************************************************** ... This reflection is in a window of what used to be Grandma's house.. standing there..
hating what her house had become.. I did a little "reflecting" of my own.. I thought about how much she loved her home.. how she would rock on the porch and enjoy people watching.. and about how silly it seems to me that there are so many abandoned and neglected houses everywhere.. are we such a selfish people that we would rather for a house to simply fall in around left behind treasures than to rent it.. or even to pack up belongings of our parents.. I left there wishing I could take the shutters.. that I am willing to bet either my Dad or Uncle made
and thinking about how sad it is that her house and the one next to it will both be no more in a short time.. It makes me angry.. I know people who could fix those houses and who also need a safe place to live...

Thanks for visiting my world today.. today me and a sidekick went on an adventure to the past.. we had a wonderful time even if the police were called.. Lucky for us they have a hard time arresting you for making a picture of a flower that is growing in the yard of an abandoned house... Oh what a day.. we laughed .. I cried.. I wore out three sets of batteries in my camera.. What fun.. Have a great day!

I am in South Carolina; USA and it is Fall here.. time for thinking about sweaters and football games.. pumpkin patches and jack-o-lanterns and roast turkey.. I am pretty sure that my turkeys are safe for the time being.. they talk to us while we gather the hen eggs and feed the hog.. I think they are trying to woo us so that they will not be on the table for any fall festivals..
